Fellow Republicans:
The Health Care Bill has passed the Senate by the time you read this email. Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson proved that what principles he has (had) can be bought for a price. Nelson held the 60th all important vote in the Senate to move the legislation forward. His talk about not supporting the bill unless it had verbiage to prohibit the use of tax dollars for abortions was just that....talk. When push came to shove, Nelson's anti-abortion principle became a non-issue as he was bought off by Harry Reid and Barack Obama. Having been in elective office, I understand compromise in politics, but I do not understand, nor do I accept compromising principles. Apparently, Nelson's pro-life position is based on a monetary value and not the sanctity of life of the unborn. Nelson's vote disgusted me.
Principle seems to be a diminishing characteristic in Washington these days. While Obama promised transparency in the Health Care debate, it has been anything but that. However, what it has accomplished is to shine the light of truth on certain members of Congress and their lack of character and integrity. That is certainly not true of all members of Congress and I don't mean to imply that it does. But certainly this particular debate leaves no doubt that arm twisting has been taken to a new level and it's not pretty. Principle, integrity and the Constitution should always be front and center in every debate and be the basis of every vote, regardless of how popular the bill may be or what the poll numbers show. Congress works for the American people, not the other way around.
I heard a story recently of former Senator Jesse Helms. In 1982, Helms filibustered a bill to raise the federal tax on a gallon of gasoline by 5 cents. This bill was supported by Democrats and Republicans alike, including President Reagan, Senators Bob Dole, Howard Baker and the liberal media. Helms stood his ground that the bill was bad for the American people and he pretty well stood alone. He was able to filibuster until just before Christmas when he lost the vote. He was called "the Grinch who almost stole Christmas" by the media and his peers because he filibustered up till Christmas Eve and the Senators were late adjourning and departing for the Christmas break. Helms left Washington that evening, headed home to North Carolina dejected that he had failed to prevent the passage of a bill that would hurt the American people and the people of his state. Helms stopped for a cup of coffee late that night at a Hardees in South Hill, Virginia. As he ordered his coffee, a trucker recognized Helms and called out his name and thanked him for standing up for the people and his principles against almost insurmountable odds. Then everyone in the Hardees began to stand and clap for Helms. He later said it was the only time he ever got a standing ovation in a Hardees. The point is this, even though he was controversial, Helms stood on principle and was a man of integrity. His word was his bond and he refused to sell out his principles for higher poll numbers, plumb committee assignments or popularity. The Senate Democrats have sold their soul for this Health Care bill and they will pay the price. Even Republican Senator Lindsay Graham, a RHINO at best, called the Senate wheeling’s and dealings "sleazy".
We must make the Democrats pay in 2010 and 2012 from the Court House to the White House. We must elect conservative, Constitutional believing Republicans and restore the Constitution as the basis of our government. We must restore sovereignty to the states and rights to the people. Our Constitution has been shredded by Obama as he rushes to change the "foundational principles" of America. Translated: Socialism. If ever the American people wondered as to whether our federal government listens to them, the Health Care issue should answer the question with a resounding NO. The Democrat majority is arrogant, condescending and care little for the American people, only their own self-interest and power. It's time to remind Congress that it is: "government of the people, by the people, and for the people".
I want to thank each of you for your dedicated work this past year in promoting the conservative principles of the Republican Party. Thank you for the many phone calls, emails and letters to our elected Representatives, urging them to stand for the principles of liberty and individual freedom. Thank you for attending the rallies and knocking on your representative's door. It has been an uphill fight with Democrats in control of the Legislature, Governor's mansion, both Houses of Congress and the Presidency. But the Tea Party movements across the country indicate a growing ground swell of interest in restoring America as envisioned by our Founders through the Constitution. Electing Republican Governors in New Jersey and Virginia, as well as a Republican Mayor and Council in Greensboro, are just the start of a conservative movement that can and will sweep this state and country. We must harness this energy and direct it into Republican victories in 2010 and 2012. I look forward to the challenge and hope you do as well. America and our way of life is what is at stake and we must not let it slip away.
We have so much to be thankful for even during these difficult and trying times. But I am convinced that God has placed his hand of mercy and blessing on our great nation. I believe it is his desire that we live every day in obedience to Him and in service to our fellow man. America is the last hope, the last bastion of liberty and freedom, the last beacon of light to a darkened world. But, I believe our nation's greatest days still lie ahead. The challenges we must face will be great, the road difficult and rocky at times, but America is a nation of exceptionalism and no task has or ever will be too difficult for the America people to overcome and conquer.
I want to wish you and your family a most blessed Christmas and may 2010 be the best year ever for you.
Bill Wright

Dr. Becky Hollibaugh of Friend, Nebraska, to share her thoughts to "sellout Sen. Ben Nelson" (D-Neb.)
Dr. Becky Hollibaugh of Friend, Nebraska e-mailed this message to a friend to share her thoughts to "sellout Sen. Ben Nelson" (D-Neb.) this morning:
I’m a family practice doctor in Nebraska. I sent the following (angry, I admit) letter to Senator Nelson. I urge your readers (from Nebraska and elsewhere) to do likewise, in their own words! Dear Senator Nelson: I send this message under “Tort Reform” because the current monstrosity you have pledged your support to says nothing whatsoever about Tort Reform. You have sold the physicians of Nebraska for zilch (zilch for us, but beaucoup federal bucks for you and the liberal partisans in this state). As a family practice physician in Small Town, Nebraska, I was counting on you to be the lone voice of Democratic sanity on this issue, but you sold me out. I will dedicate every spare minute of my time and every spare dollar I have to defeating you, should you run for re-election. The long hours I spent on my medical education and the long hours I spend treating my patients are nothing but chump change to you and your Democrat colleagues in Washington. I especially can’t wait for your equivocation and milquetoast evasion when your “compromises” on the abortion language in the bill are silently erased or quietly (on-little-legislative-cat’s-feet) eviscerated in the House/Senate give-and-take. Go on: Bet me that you won’t wuss-out on this issue! I know you won’t give two-seconds to this letter, but I had to write it. I’m a primary care doctor in YOUR state, and you sold me out. I didn’t slog through 4 years of college and 4 years of medical school and 3 years of residency just to have you hand my career and my patient/doctor relationships over to government lifers. Your gutless acquiescence to Obama and Harry Reid and ‘Nanny’ Pelosi will NOT be forgotten. Thank you, Ben, for forcing doctors like me to earn less than the repairmen who fix our appliances. Case in point: We recently had our dishwasher fixed. The repairman who came to our house charged $65 just to come and ‘diagnose’ the problem, then charged another $180 to ‘fix’ the problem. You and your fellow lawmakers have fixed MY going rate (Medicare) at $35 per-visit. Thank you for securing such a ‘lucrative’ rate for me! Thank you so much for making me–someone with 8 years of education!–make less than a mechanic or appliance repair technician. And thanks especially for falling in line with Obama and the rest of the Democrats to make such a socialist system permanent. You have my disgust and disdain forever, you socialist-coddling coward. Sincerely, Becky F. Hollibaugh, D.O. Warren Memorial Hospital Ziimmerman Clinic Friend, NE 68359
Happy New Year from all of the Transylvania County Republican Party Executive Committee and all fifteen, Republican Elected Officials within the county.

Dear Friend,
For the past three weeks, including weekends, the U.S. Senate has been in session debating the much discussed healthcare reform legislation. I have been in Washington for this entire debate doing all I can to stop the creation of this expansive and costly program which would result in government control of your health care.
You know my position, and I hope you understand how important it is for me to be on the floor of the Senate fighting this. In his first Inaugural Address Franklin Roosevelt said, "we have nothing to fear but fear itself." Well, it’s clear that FDR never met Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi or their plans contained in this ill-conceived legislation.
I will be here through this weekend and right through the week of Christmas, and for as long as this debate continues.
Because of this schedule, I was not able to schedule some of the events my campaign had planned for December in North Carolina. This year is about to end and I must meet my campaign fundraising goals in order to be ready for next year. Already, three individuals have announced their plans to run against me, and the national Democrats will do everything in their power to support those candidates by pouring millions of dollars into the state like they did in 2008.
You have helped make this year a successful start for my re-election campaign. But, I need to ask for your help just once more before this year is over. Because I have not been able to be in the state for the past three weeks I run the risk of falling behind on what I need to raise before the end of the month. So I am making this one last appeal to you this year for a financial contribution.
If you could send just $25 before December 31, it would be a great help. I hate to ask you at this time of year but I know you understand the importance of my race, and I hope I can count on you. Any amount will be appreciated and will get us off to a great start for 2010.
Just click here to make a secure online contribution today. Thank you for whatever amount you can send.
In the meantime, I will keep up the fight for common sense solutions to our problems, not more government bureaucracy and spending. Please let me hear from you if you can help this month.
Thank you for considering this special request.
Sincerely,
Richard Burr United States Senator

Changes to NC Campaign Laws
You may have heard already but we wanted to remind you that the NC Board of Elections rules have changed regarding "Certification of Threshold" filing and Candidate filing and reporting. The threshold limit has changed from $3000.00 to $1000.00 according to the reports I've heard. I'm told that everyone must file again even though you have not reached the $1000.00 level.
Also, according to reports circulating and my uneducated interpretation of the attached regulation an individual becomes an "official" candidate and subject to all reporting requirements the minute he or she makes any public statement indicating they intend to run for an elected office.
Bottom line; don't get caught unaware, check with your local Board of Elections or the State Board of Elections and spread the word to all potential candidates and auxiliary groups.
Please see the attached NCBOE file,

ClimateGate
Whether you are reading Gordon Crovitz, and his article “The Web Discloses Inconvenient Climate Truths”, Bret Stephens, and his article, “ClimateGate: Follow the Money”, or Dr. Richard S. Lindzen, Professor of Meteorology at MIT, and his article, “The Climate Science Isn’t Settled”, or any of the other Climate Change articles in the leading national newspaper, you just have to come to the feeling that the wheels are falling off the radical left’s proposed, largest tax increase in the history of man.
Actually, you do not have to believe these experts. You can visit the URL below and down load all of the thousands of damming Emails and hundreds of documents. http://www.filedropper.com/foi2009
My personal favorites are the documents detailing the strategy for taking over all scientific discussion and training the world’s population to accept them as the only experts on global climate. The East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit’s (CRU) Director Phil Jones has raked in $19 million worth of research grants from 2000 to 2006. This however is just the tip of the ice burg. Other ECO groups such as Ozone Action, Clean Air Cool Planet, Americans for Equitable Climate Change Solutions, The Alternative Energy Resources Association, The California Climate Action Registry and all of the ethanol based alternative fuel consortiums are raking in the money hand over fist.
It is difficult to believe that people such as East Anglia’s, Phil Jones or Penn State’s, Michael Mann are scientists. What they are, are anarchists, who want the world to return to some fanciful state which may have existed before the dawn of mankind. Their association with the United Nations’, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, (IPCC), makes one wonder, which came first. Was it the CRU or the IPCC? Maybe it was Al Gore.
They all shared the Nobel Peace Prize together!

SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR OUR TROOPS...
I'm willing to bet that just two days ago, amid the parades, speeches and ceremonies of Veteran's Day, you were wondering what you could do to support our troops. Later, you may wish to send a package to them with things from home; however, today you can take a couple of minutes out of your busy day to send one of them a post card. Xerox is doing this and it's something small that we can all do to show our appreciation to those so far from home who are serving in our stead...
XEROX IS DOING SOMETHING COOL
If you go to this web site, www.LetsSayThanks.com you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq . You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services. How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!! It is FREE and it only takes a second.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these? This takes just 10 seconds and it's a wonderful way to say thank you. Please take the time to send to our troops and then please take the time to pass it on for others to do. We can never say enough thank you's. Thanks for taking to time to support our military! God Bless America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The following letter read on Glenn Beck's show, is rapidly circulating around the country. Americans everywhere identify with this 53-year-old woman. She has given us a voice. Once you read this, you will want to forward it to all of your friends...
|
|
GLENN BECK: I got a letter from a woman in Arizona . She writes an open letter to our nation's leadership:
"I am a home grown American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. Now I no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue the issues important to me. Instead, we are burdened with Congressional Dukes and Duchesses who think they know better than the citizens they are supposed to represent.
There must be someone. Please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me that you are there and that you're willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please stand up now. You might ask yourself what my views and issues are that I would feel so horribly disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of nut-job am I? Well, these briefly are the views and issues for which I seek representation:
One, Illegal Immigration. I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants and secure our borders. Close the underground tunnels. Stop the violence and the trafficking in drugs and people. No amnesty, not again. Been there, done that, no resolution. P.S., I'm not a racist. This is not to be confused with legal immigration.
Two, the STIMULUS bill. I want it repealed and I want no further funding supplied to it. We told you No, but you did it anyway. I want the remaining unfunded 95% repealed. Freeze, repeal.
Three: Czars. I want the circumvention of our constitutional checks and balances stopped immediately. Fire the czars. No more czars. Government officials answer to the process, not to the president. Stop trampling on our Constitution, and honor it.
Four, Cap and Trade. The debate on global warming is not over. There are many conflicting opinions and it is too soon for this radical legislation. Quit throwing our nation into politically-correct quicksand.
Five, Universal Healthcare. I will not be rushed into another expensive decision that will burden me, my children, and grandchildren. Don't you dare try to pass this in the middle of the night without even reading it. Slow down! Fix only what is broken -- we have the best health care system in the world -- and test any new program in one or two states first.
Six, Growing government control. I want states rights and sovereignty fully restored. I want less government in my life, not more. More is not better! Shrink it down. Mind your own business. You have enough to take care of with your real [Constitutional] obligations. Why don't you start there.
Seven, ACORN. I do not want ACORN and its affiliates in charge of our 2010 census. I want them investigated. I also do not want mandatory escrow fees contributed to them every time on every real estate deal that closes -- how did they pull that one off? Stop the funding to ACORN and its affiliates pending impartial audits and investigations. I do not trust them with taking the census with our taxpayer money. I don't trust them with any of our taxpayer money. Face up to the allegations against them and get it resolved before taxpayers get any more involved with them. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, hello. Stop protecting your political buddies. You work for us, the people. Investigate.
Eight, Redistribution of Wealth. No, no, no. I work for my money. It is mine. I have always worked for people with more money than I have because they gave me jobs -- and that is the only redistribution of wealth that I will support. I never got a job from a poor person! Why do you want me to hate my employers? And what do you have against shareholders making a profit?
Nine, Charitable Contributions. Although I never got a job from a poor person, I have helped many in need. Charity belongs in our local communities, where we know our needs best and can use our local talent and our local resources. Butt out, please. We want to do it ourselves.
Ten, Corporate Bailouts. Knock it off. Every company must sink or swim like the rest of us. If there are hard times ahead, we'll be better off just getting into it and letting the strong survive. Quick and painful. (Have you ever ripped off a Band-Aid?) We will pull together. Great things happen in America under great hardship. Give us the chance to innovate. We cannot disappoint you more than you have disappointed us.
Eleven, Transparency and Accountability. How about it? No, really, how about it? Let's have it. Let's say we give the buzzwords a rest and have some straight honest talk. Please stop trying to manipulate and appease me with clever wording. I am not the idiot you obviously take me for. Stop sneaking around and meeting in back rooms making deals with your friends. It will only be a prelude to your criminal investigation. Stop hiding things from me.
Twelve, Unprecedented quick spending. Stop it now. Take a breath. Listen to the people. Slow down and get some input from nonpoliticians and experts on the subject. Stop making everything an emergency. Stop speed-reading our bills into law. I am not an activist. I am not a community organizer. Nor am I a terrorist, a militant or a violent person. I am a parent and a grandparent. I work. I'm busy. I am busy, and I am tired. I thought we elected competent people to take care of the business of government so that we could work, raise our families, pay our bills, have a little recreation, complain about taxes, endure our hardships, pursue our personal goals, cut our lawn, wash our cars on the weekends and be responsible contributing members of society and teach our children to be the same all while living in the home of the free and land of the brave.
I entrusted you with upholding the Constitution. I believed in the checks and balances to keep from getting far off course. What happened? You are very far off course. Do you really think I find humor in the hiring of a speed reader to unintelligently ramble all through a bill that you signed into law without knowing what it contained? I do not. It is a mockery of the responsibility I have entrusted to you. It is a slap in the face. I am not laughing at your arrogance. Why is it that I feel as if you would not trust me to make a single decision about my own life and how I would live it but you should expect that I should trust you with the debt that you have laid on all of us and our children. We did not want the TARP bill. We said no. We would repeal it if we could. I am sure that we still cannot. There is needless urgency and recklessness in all of your recent spending of our tax dollars.
From my perspective, it seems that all of you have gone insane. I also know that I am far from alone in these feelings. Do you honestly feel that your current pursuits have merit to patriotic Americans? We want it to stop. We want to put the brakes on everything that is being rushed by us and forced upon us. We want our voice back. You have forced us to put our lives on hold to straighten out the mess that you are making. We will have to give up our vacations, our time spent with our children, any relaxation time we may have had and money we cannot afford to spend on bringing our concerns to Washington . Our president often knows all the right buzzwords like unsustainable. Well, no kidding. How many tens of thousands of dollars did the focus group cost to come up with that word? We don't want your overpriced words. Stop treating us like we're morons.
We want all of you to stop focusing on your reelection and do the job we want done, not the job you want done or the job your party wants done. You work for us and at this rate I guarantee you not for long because we are coming. We will be heard and we will be represented.. You think we're so busy with our lives that we will never come for you? We are the formerly silent majority, all of us who quietly work, pay taxes, obey the law, vote, save money, keep our noses to the grindstone... and we are now looking at you. You have awakened us, the patriotic freedom spirit so strong and so powerful that it had been sleeping too long. You have pushed us too far. Our numbers are great. They may surprise you. For every one of us who will be there, there will be hundreds more that could not come. Unlike you, we have their trust. We will represent them honestly, rest assured. They will be at the polls on voting day to usher you out of office. We have cancelled vacations. We will use our last few dollars saved. We will find the representation among us and a grassroots campaign will flourish. We didn't ask for this fight. But the gloves are coming off. We do not come in violence, but we are angry. You will represent us or you will be replaced with someone who will. There are candidates among us who will rise like a Phoenix from the ashes that you have made of our constitution.
Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian. Understand this. We don't care. Political parties are meaningless to us Patriotic Americans are willing to do right by us and our Constitution, and that is all that matters to us now. We are going to fire all of you who abuse power and seek more. It is not your power. It is ours and we want it back. We entrusted you with it and you abused it. You are dishonorable. You are dishonest. As Americans we are ashamed of you. You have brought shame to us. If you are not representing the wants and needs of your constituency loudly and consistently, in spite of the objections of your party, you will be fired. Did you hear? We no longer care about your political parties. You need to be loyal to us, not to them.. Because we will get you fired and they will not save you.
If you do or can represent me, my issues, my views, please stand up. Make your identity known. You need to make some noise about it. Speak up. I need to know who you are. If you do not speak up, you will be herded out with the rest of the sheep and we will replace the whole damn congress if need be one by one. We are coming. Are we coming for you? Who do you represent? What do you represent? Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming."

"Not Evil Just Wrong" Movie Viewing?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This evening, the worldwide premiere of the move, "Not Evil Just Wrong" kicked off at 8:00 pm EDT. The movie is an 85 minute documentary addressing global warming hysteria and its dangers. The movie was available for viewing live online and in dozens of venues the world over.
View the movie trailer.
Review by John Fund in the Wall Street Journal:
Irish documentary filmmakers Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney have stirred up trouble before by debunking smug liberal hypocrisy. Their latest film, "Not Evil, Just Wrong" takes on the hysteria over global warming and warns that rushing to judgment in combating climate change would threaten the world's poor.
The film reminds us that environmentalists have been wrong in the past, as when they convinced the world to ban the pesticide DDT, costing the lives of countless malaria victims. The ban was finally reversed by the World Health Organization only after decades of debate. The two Irish filmmakers argue that if Al Gore's advice to radically reduce carbon emissions is followed, it would condemn to poverty two billion people in the world who have yet to turn on their first light switch.
